What if they learned how to establish an effective morning routine early in life? Many of us wait and are forced to establish this habit in college or even later.
Rise & Shine is set on the view that if you get up just a little bit earlier and do some things for yourself, you can take charge of your day instead of having your day take charge of you.
How many mornings are you rushing around searching for backpacks and homework and trying to get some food in your young athlete, so they don’t miss the bus?
By getting up 10 to 15 minutes earlier each morning with other like-minded athletes, they can learn to build the habit of a powerful morning routine effectively.
“Early to Bed, Early to Rise, makes a man and woman healthy, wealthy, and wise.”
-Benjamin Franklin
Every day M-F, we offer a morning wake-up call via Zoom, which lasts no more than 10 minutes.
On Mondays, we pay tribute to a person or event and then use the message throughout the week in our workouts. For example, Admiral McRaven gave a very empowering commencement speech in which he touted the power of bed-making. We believe in this as well. It’s a foundational principle of our mornings.
The remainder of the week will be divided into different “workout” modalities, which can include or be combined into one of the following:
As the athletes get comfortable within the routine, they will be given opportunities to lead the day or the week. This is a Huge Opportunity! As they develop their skills on the field, they’ll be asked to lead their teammates. This is great practice speaking in front of a group of their peers and executing a group workout. The more often they do it, the more comfortable they get, and when their real-life opportunity presents itself, they’ll have this experience to draw from!
Parents and Athletes will receive a weekly recap. The recap will include our Tribute, their message, and their story. There are suggested talking points within the story for parents to use to open a discussion with their athletes. The email will also include a link to the book or video used for each workout.
Registration Welcome Package:
1) Athlete Creed (developed by our current group)
2) Resistance Band
3) Foam Roller
4) Book: Make Your Bed by Admiral McRaven
